Margot Vigeant has been accepted into the Apple Distinguished Educators class of 2013. Every other year Apple selects 75 educators to become part of this highly competitive national program designed to support innovation in teaching. Margot’s research looks at conceptual learning in engineering — she asks complex question along the lines of ‘how do we get energy‘ and ‘how can we effectively use the energy sources we have without creating a lot of waste‘. She and a number of faculty in the School of Engineering have been using iPads to support active learning, student collaboration, and easy access to shared resources. We look forward to learning more from Margot as her work as a Distinguished Educator continues to connect relevant technologies, a carefully crafted curriculum, and important research questions.
