During the fall semester, Bucknell’s Center for Campus Activities and Programs led a university-wide campaign to promote efforts to improve and enhance students’ Bucknell Experience. The “We’ve Herd You” campaign highlighted a wide range of actions from all corners of the university that included Bucknell Student Government bringing frozen yogurt to the Bison, adding more treadmills in the gym, and a number of Library and IT-oriented initiatives.
Some of the efforts made by Library and IT that were featured in the campaign included: extending library hours on Friday and Saturday nights, expanding options available through the Bison Laptop Program, moving computers into the quiet areas of the library, streamlining Research by Subject guides, installing phone charging stations in the library, and creating a more welcoming space for students to meet with librarians. In keeping with the spirit of the campaign, all of the above outcomes were prompted by feedback from students, and a number of the suggestions came directly from Library and IT’s Student Advisory Group. This group, comprised of students from across the university, serves a variety of purposes, but what has proven to be most invaluable is that the group constantly pushes Library and IT forward. Either through suggesting new ideas or shining a spotlight on a current service that is not working, the group has been an essential partner in Library and IT’s efforts to evolve our services, facilities, and resources to better support and enhance the Bucknell experience.
Of course, the conclusion of the campaign was not an endpoint. We “herd” you, and will continue to hear you.
