Bucknell has long been a leader in adopting new and innovative technologies. Our forward thinking approach allows us to become early experts and to model organization and process for other academic institutions. We were one of the first universities of our stature to adopt Worldcat as its primary library discovery tool.
Worldcat’s back-end is OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services (WMS), a cloud-based cooperative library management system that streamlines acquisitions, circulation, license management and metadata management workflows, and offers a powerful discovery and delivery tool for library users.
On Feb. 27, 2014, Bucknell’s own Lynda Thaler and Kathy Dalius participated in the WMS Online Community Meeting, sharing their Metadata management workflows with other WMS users. Lynda explained how she uses Record Manager to maintain Local Bibliographic Data (LBD) and Kathy gave a brief demonstration on how to add and update electronic holdings using Manage Collections. Jennifer Clarke, a member of the WMS Community Leadership team, introduced Lynda and Kathy to the WMS audience.
A recording of this session is now available online.
If you are in the library and see Lynda or Kathy, please congratulate them on their accomplishment!
