Throughout the semester we will be providing “Daily Tech Tips”. The following is a recap of the tips thus far:
Q: How Do You Get to Bmail?
A: The fastest way to access Bmail is to visit http:// webmail.bucknell.edu You will get a prompt to log in but will be directed right to your Bmail inbox. If you’ve already logged in to myBucknell or Moodle, you won’t have to log in again.
Q: Are you thinking about traveling? Need a little language help?
A: Mango is our online language resource – check it out at https://my.bucknell.edu/x58747.html
Q: Do you ever need to share a large file with someone on or off campus? A file that’s too big to email?
A: FileLocker is the solution! The current email attachment limit with Bmail is 25mb. However, with FileLocker, you can share files that are as big as 2gb! Check it out at https://filelocker.bucknell.edu It’s easy to use and a great way to securely transfer a big file.
Q: Do you use that bar across the bottom of your Windows screen?
A: It’s easy to customize your taskbar. Is there an app, like Chrome or VLC, that you use all the time? Just find your app, right click on it, and choose Pin to Taskbar.
Q: Did you know you can change the way you view the Message Center?
A: Log into myBucknell, and where you see the Message, click on Message Center at the bottom of the posts. You’ll see a link on the left side of the page that says Update preferences. You’ll see a set of options about the delivery of the messages, and you can change anything you’d like!
Q: Did you know there’s an easy way to fill out a form?
Use the tab key to advance in a form.
Q: Did you know that if your browser is out of date, pages won’t load, Bmail won’t run, and your computer runs a security risk?
A: On a Mac, run software updates to get the latest update for Safari. For Firefox, click on Firefox>About Firefox. For Chrome . . . no worries, it updates itself!
A: On a PC, click on Help>About Firefox. For IE, use Windows Update (Click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update.)
Windows users: if you’re using Internet Explorer 8, Bmail will stop working soon!
If you have XP, you’re out of luck, because XP won’t run IE9. For more information, see this blog post from Google Apps: http://googleappsupdates.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/supporting-modern-browsers-internet.html
Apple and Windows don’t want your computer to be compromised!
So they make it easy . . . by doing Apple Software Updates, and Windows Updates, you can help protect your computer from infection and attack – and your computer needs all the help it can get!
On Macs, click on the Apple in the top left and choose Software Updates, or click the updates when you get the notifications. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338 for more info.

Q: How easy is it to find your iPhone?
A: Use iCloud Find my iPhone to find your iPhone or your iPad if you’ve lost them. Maybe you just forgot where you left it, or maybe it was stolen. Either way, you can lock it, trace the location, make it play a sound, or erase it remotely . . . quickly and easily. For more information, see Apple’s article at http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2696
