Some students may notice a change to the look and feel of our SafeConnect pages. In addition to changing the graphics and updating the wording on the pages, we’ve implemented some behind-the-scenes changes that have improved the process for connecting gaming and media devices (xBox, Playstation, Apple TV, smart TV, Roku, etc.) to the network.
We’ve added a tool that identifies and passes devices that aren’t computers through SafeConnect without the need for any staff intervention, which has been done manually. In most cases, the process simply requires that the student attempt to connect to the network through an app like Netflix, which sends an identifying signal to SafeConnect. After a restart, a second attempt is successful, as SafeConnect is now aware of the type of device that is attempting to use the network.
