What’s a phishing email?

A phishing email tries to get you to put in your username and password. But why does a hacker want to see your email?

In many cases, it’s not your email they want – it’s your credentials. It’s your username and password, which they can then use to access your account info, or send thousands of spam messages around the world, or infiltrate other parts of the organization.

Bucknell will never ask you for your username or password. There will never be a legitimate request, even if it appears to come from the tech desk, or the help desk, or a person at Bucknell.

Stay safe! Delete any email that asks you to provide your username and password.
